Vitoria inspires Ken Follet to write his new novel “World without end”

The Welsh writer Ken Follett had his source of inspiration for writing his new novel “World Without End”, the second part of the successful “Pillars of the Earth”, in the restoration works of the Santa María Cathedral in Vitoria

Ken Follett visited the restoration works of the Santa María Cathedral, in Vitoria, and got interested in the achievement of the temple’s stability and in the prevention of its walls’ sloping. This restoration works seduced the writer, who, in subsequent visits, got the necessary documentation and data to continue the story of “Pillars of the Earth”. His new novel takes place in the same settings as the first book, but but all the narration details have been taken from Vitoria’s Cathedral.
